2010 Board Election: Slate of Candidates

The Elections Committee has submitted the provisional slate of Candidates to the Board for the 2010 Board Election.  You can find the provisional slate of candidates here:  www.amianet.org/groups/committees/elections/2010/provisional_slate.php

If after viewing the provisional slate, any qualified AMIA member wishing to run for any open AMIA office may add their name to the list of candidates on the provisional ballot by the nomination by petition process. 

All candidates must declare their intention to run through the nomination by petition process no later than August 6th and must submit their petitions no later than August 20, 2010.

Candidate statements and ballot information will be sent to Members in late August.

Get Involved in AMIA's New Preservation Committee!

Hello all,

 

The AMIA Preservation Committee is reinventing itself and we need your participation to make the committee a success. The first action item for the new co-chairs Kate Murray and Reto Kromer is to establish the committee membership roster. Next steps are to finalize our mission statement and then decide on tasks for the upcoming year. We have some exciting projects for both analog and digital preservation issues in mind but we need your skills and experience to get them off the ground.

 

All AMIA members are welcome to join the committee!

The AMIA Forums are here!

Dear All,

 

After over a year in the planning (they say that the best things in life are worth waiting for!), we (the AMIA Board of Directors and office staff) are pleased to announce the launch of the web-based AMIA discussion forum.  You can find the forum and guidelines here:

I'm not going to repeat the stuff on the guidelines page, but I would just like to emphasise two points.

 

1.  We are offering this as an additional facility to promote discussion and collaboration within the field, NOT as a replacement for this list or AMIA-L.  Business as usual for both will continue.

 

2.  Please do bear with me if your registration takes a day or two to be processed and activated.  I will be on solo moderation duty over the opening weekend, and so if there's a deluge it might take a while to process what we anticipate will be the initial rush of registration requests.

 

If you have any comments about the way the board is set up, and/or technical queries related to its operation, please don't hesitate either to email me privately or to start a thread in the off-topic area of the forum itself.

 

We would also encourage you to forward this announcement to any other listserv, forum or individual(s) you feel may be interested.
