CM opens film archive in city

PANAJI: Goa got a film archive, the first of its kind in India which is visual as well as textual.The brainchild of Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) was inaugurated on Friday by chief minister Digambar Kamat at Maquinez palace, Panaji where the archive will be located.

Trying to save the images of Texas

NFB marks its 70th anniversary with a birthday gift to all Canadians

"Montreal, January 21, 2009 – A vital part of the national fabric since 1939, the National Film Board of Canada is marking its 70th anniversary in 2009 with a gift to Canadians and Web users of all ages: a new online Screening Room providing free home viewing of over 700 productions, films, trailers and clips from the NFB's world-renowned collection."

Birth of a Film Archive

Most of this magazine's rich archive is locked up in what are known as pdf documents--digital images of the original print magazine grabbed from microfilm--and available free to subscribers of the magazine. (Non-subscribers can purchase these documents from our digital archive for a modest fee.) Beginning this week, The Nation is liberating those locked-up documents in the form of curated selections from the archive that will be searchable on the Internet and available to all. Julien Anfruns appointed President of the International Committee of the Blue Shield (ICBS)

On 22 January, the International Committee of the Blue Shield appointed Julien Anfruns, the Director General of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), as its new President. Mr Anfruns takes over from Joan van Albada, the former Secretary General of the International Council on Archives (ICA).

Filmmaker Morrison to get lifetime achievement award
